We humans carry within us the longing to capture our existence and immortalize ourselves. The Renaissance view of humanity was and continues to shape our contemporary perspective, yet social media has managed to challenge our enlightened self. The flood of multimedia images doesn't seem to sharpen our focus on ourselves, but rather focuses it purely on the external. Yet it's what's inside that defines us.

In our exhibition, we want to explore the question of whether the visual arts, with their time-consuming, analogue techniques, can counteract the fast-paced digital age and create an image of humanity that defies transience and endures. In philosophy, the term "image of humanity" stands for the essence of humanity, its characteristics, the meaning of its existence, and its values. Contemporary art, too, continues to be a medium for capturing intuitions of humanity as individuals and as social beings. It can illuminate the question: Who are we today?
