Weber & Weber Gallery presents Disturbing Transfigurations, a new exhibition curated by Lóránd Hegyi that brings together various artistic proposals dedicated to the enigmatic metamorphoses of the body, taken as a central subject and a territory of interrogation.
Press release
The works on display invite the public to enter a realm of improbability and uncertainty, reflecting the tensions and ambiguities that characterize the contemporary world. Though permeated by obscurity, enigmas, and irrational apparitions, these visual narratives reveal a profound archetypal dimension, capable of evoking fundamental anthropological constellations.
Some of the works on display focus on the revisitation of formal, linguistic, and compositional models from previous cultural eras. Through subversive reinterpretations and unexpected combinations, the artists construct an eclectic and referential imagery, in which new forms dialogue with
traditional configurations. This critical approach questions the validity of inherited metaphorical messages, paving the way for a radical reinvention of archetypal narratives.
A second group of works instead gives shape to disturbing, destabilizing psychic and pathological narratives, manifesting the presence of subconscious and obscure forces. The works reveal complex interweavings, unpredictable associations, and a vibrant disorientation, revealing vital processes of awareness and self-questioning that emerge from the depths of inner experience.
Organized in collaboration with the Aragno Humanities Forum of Cuneo, the exhibition offers a panorama of aesthetic statements that reflect a constantly changing, ephemeral, and transitory world. The intimacy and profound interiority revealed in these artworks open possible pathways to the intuitively perceptible realities of our human universe.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalog published by Nino Aragno Editore.
