Szűcs’s latest works are parables about humanity’s greatest transformation. This transformation, rooted in our relationship with technology and nature, finds expression through motifs such as human figures, natural phenomena, toys and skulls. Each element is imbued with a spirit that oscillates between playfulness and deep existential contemplation. The juxtaposition of the grim and the innocent creates an atmosphere that is difficult to define, forcing viewers to explore their psychological spaces and confront the reality of their fleeting existence.
In the paintings, space is bathed in the faint glow of gravityless, indefinable light sources, allowing for the experience of a transitional space – a feeling that shatters the rigid definitions of time and space.
As the painter says: “Each painting serves as a portal, inviting them into realms both familiar and unfathomable.”
In a world where communication often falters amid digital disruption, Szűcs’s works offer understanding from a holistic perspective. Each painting becomes an examination of the possibility, or lack thereof, of connection. They embody the desire for intimacy beyond the surface, an intimacy we constantly seek, yet often find elusive. The painter illuminates these layers of human experience, revealing our quest for belonging and the potential fault lines.
A dominant theme in Szűcs’s repertoire is the exploration of the duality between a technologically driven existence and our primal instincts. His works not only immerse themselves in the chaos of modernity, but also critique it, encouraging viewers to reflect on the narratives they weave in a disintegrating world – a world that is falling apart, yet yearning for coherence.
